Election Day Outfit

Dear All, meet the outfit I wore on the American Election Day. Yes, red, blue, and white it is! It was fun and interesting to be in the U.S. during the election. I got to go with my colleague to the pool in a near by school, and I have to say it looked pretty similar to what it looks like when we vote in Sweden, although I am very surprised that you don’t need to show any personal identification card to vote. The Americans also get to vote about so many other things that we never vote about – their ballot is thick – or what about if fireworks should be allowed or not. For an outsider it is also hard to understand the point with electoral votes, and not use the popular votes, so that everyone’s vote count the same, and I know that many Americans would agree with me. Of course my hosts and I followed the election vigil on the television, but we did not have to stay up very late, as it was not that thrill that expected. I wish President Obama all the best, and I really hope that he will be able to get the American economy going, as it is so important for the U.S. and the rest of the world!

I also want to say, that I think the U.S. is a great country to visit. There is tremendously a lot of things to see and to do, and where ever you go, in the stores, in restaurants, etc., people are friendly! I know some people would say – oh it is only superficial – yes, it might be, but you know, I rather get a superficial smile and compliments, than no smile and no compliments which often is the case in Swedish stores.

By the way, have you seen the cat in the corner – it is my colleague’s cat Mojo! She is a sweet little thing with a beautiful fur. Having her in the picture makes me feel a little like my the stylish and fun Izzywizz at Colour Makes People, who often has one of her cats or her dog in here pictures. Why don’t you have a look at her blog?

I wish you all a great weekend, mine has just started!

T-shirt – Esprit; Belt – Lindex; Skirt – Norgaard på Ströget; Sunglasses – Bought in Turkey; Scarf – Zara; Necklace – Gift from my co-supervisior at the day I defended my thesis; Bracelet – H&M; Flats – Clarks

I like your patriotic outfit and I’m glad you are enjoying your trip here. I do have to tell you that we are required to show ID to vote….we must show our driver’s license or state ID card.

I wish I could have attend that conference; was it good? Oh well New Orleans is next year. I’m sure I will see you there!

    • Four Seasons One Wardrobe says:

Dear Lisa, I have not attended conference yet, it will start on Wednesday. Right now I am visiting a colleague and we are working on some papers together. I will let you know when I have attended. Yes, hopefully next year in the Big Easy!

Thank you Sabine, I am indeed enjoying my time here! I love my denim skirt too, it is a very flattering cut for my thighs. I bought the scarf when I had a blogger meet up with Tine from Highly Irregular Style in Copenhagen. Best, A

Oh Anna, thanks a billion for your shout out!! 🙂 I feel so honoured and touched, youre the best Anna! 🙂 Such a cute grey furry friend to accompany you. 🙂 I loved to read about your experiences in the US, I had to chuckle a little over how friendly the americans are, we scandinavians could learn a lot of them. 🙂

You do the classic red, white and blue so well! The red top with matching belt looks great, and the scarf is just the way you suggested to me, right? It’s beautiful! The skirt is of course very flattering, and very appropriate in such summery weather!

  6. Four Seasons One Wardrobe says:

Ohhh… thank you Tine! Yes, I think you could do a big scarf, but I also think a smaller square scarf would work. I soon need to do a “same skirt – several ways post” on this skirt – the only problem will be to select which photos to use, as there will be plenty of photos of this skirt!!!!
