Almost 200 posts

IMG_0482 - Version 3

I am approaching 200 posts! I can’t believe it, wordpress most have miscalculated that number. But since it says that this is my 199th post, and I don’t have time to control count, let us say I have almost done 200 posts. As bloggers are as most other people, although probably a little bite more narcissistic, at the time of anniversaries we start to question what we have achieved, and think about what we want to do in the future (and then we do a “favorite-outfits post”). I am pretty much like all the others, although I have not decided yet if I am going to make a favorite-outfit post.

So, what have been going on during these last 198 posts, and did I have a clear thought of what I wanted to do with the blog? For you that have read the “about” this blog, you know that one mean was to help my self to control my weight. I can’t say that it has been successful the last months, or even the last 18 months. Despite that I know all about the negative consequences of being obese, I am currently almost obese according to my body mass index (BMI) value (or obese, I have not dared to use the scale after Christmas). I should definitely know better than weigh what I do. However, I suppose that 60% of the American population and 50% of the adult European population should now better too!

Given the fact that so many adults are overweight or obese, one out of two, have made me  as interested in the origins of obesity as in the consequences.  I will not go into the details about what I have learned here and now, but let me just say that it is not due to only weak willpower, there is so many other factors that contribute to a persons BMI. So please don’t judge people who are overweight or obese, or have much more in their lunch boxes than you do! (I promise to write more about this in another post)

Despite that I am not aiming for losing weight this year (last time that happened the Cosby show was still running ) I have not given up on health! Independent of your BMI, people who don’t exercise is so much worse off. In general, having a higher BMI and exercise is better than having a low BMI and do not exercise. So my news years resolution is instead to try to get a little more exercise, get out more often during daytime, and to eat more vegetables and fruit. If I do lose weight due to these life style changes, it will be an extra bonus.

I do understand that this might seem controversial to some persons. However, I don’t recommend that anyone should gain weight or be obese, I am just saying that I am trying to change my focus. And I think, that health recommendations should change focus too, as they obviously are not successful, but more about that in another post.

So what does all this have to do with my blog, and my upcoming blog anniversary? It actually has to do with dress for my current weight and body type. Although I might be overweight/obese, I could do my best to dress flattering, and I do think I have some tricks to share. After all, I have been chubby almost all my life, and it would be a pity if I hadn’t learned anything. And if you like what you see, why don’t you tell your curvy and chubby friend that don’t know how to dress for her curvy body type (men, this is not discrimination – this is biology!) to pop over to my blog?  It would be a very nice anniversary gift, in case you like to celebrate it with me!

Linking up to Patti’s Visible Monday!

    Dear Anna,
Congratulations for 200 posts! Your curvy suggestions are always marvellous and very feminine. I like to see the sparkling jacket again and of course I love your yellow polka-dot blouse. You look amazing!
Regarding my weight I made the experience that my thyroid function has a great influence. Since I have found out the right level of medication (after many years of asking me why I gain weight while not eating too much) I can keep my weight, provided that I eat reasonably and provided that I take exercise. So my focus for this year is also to take regularly exercise and in case i gain weight again to have more actions outside – walking, jogging or swimming. But to get rid of the additional christmas-cookie-pounds I have to reduce my verspertine meals a bit for the next few weeks.
By the way I prefer to be a bit curvy. That smoothes the wrinkles.
Have a great week my dear!

Thank you for your support Sabine! Your comments always make my day, I am so glad that we have become friends! Glad to hear that you have found the right level of medication. I don’t think I can blame the hormones for for gaining weight while not eating very much, but maybe I can blame the hormones for being hungry to often?!!!

You always look so healthy and happy. That is always the main thing.

    Hello Anna,
Congrats on 200 posts. I’m happy to have met you through this blog. Its so nice to know another person with the same academic interests.
I think you look wonderful and you do dress to accommodate and flatter your current figure. Love this outfit you are wearing,
I think your new goals are excellent. I think its a change in mindset that will be very beneficial. It think we should stop worrying about what the scale says and be more concerned about what we are feeding our bodies and about getting enough exercise. I am going to do the same thing….I’m going to make my goal to eat healthier and move more.

    Either way, you look beautiful!

I feel the same about you Lisa! Considering food, I only wished I did not what is the least bad food (of course I know that too much sugar and fat are bad). There is a lot of naughty things going on in the food industry, even the lab rats are getting fatter, and the formula for their food have been the same for decades!!!! In other words, somethings are out of our control. Another example is that a Swedish cow produce four times as much milk today than for fifty years ago!!!! In any case, I will do what I can and increase my exercise level.

  4. I love reading about your healthy goals, Anna. And the way you incorporate your style ideas as well! You look terrific, colorful and happy. Thanks for sharing with Visible Monday. xxx

How wise of you to concentrate on being healthy and not dieting. I am sure that from dieting you only gain weight eventually. I have been yoyo-ing for years and decided to stop it. I am at a comfortable weight now and my goal is to keep it steady. I found out that my body reacts really badly to sugar so I try to avoid it, not an easy thing because there is sugar added to so many things. I am convinces that our body needs healthy, not processed food.
I am enjoying being a woman and having a ‘womanly shape’. I will never fit size 38 again and I finally find it all right, what a relief!
Always a pleasure to read your blog and I love your outfits, thank you.

    • Four Seasons One Wardrobe says:

Thank you Sarah! Ohhh yes, there is sugar in almost everything, and flour! I think the first goal should be to maintain our weight, yoyo-dieting is probably more devastating than being a little overweight. Thank you for your nice comments about my blog, it means a lot to me!

  6. You look gorgeous and obviously know what suits you – something we all need to learn! As you say health is about so much more than a number on a scale anyway. Glad Ive discovered your blog! X

Congrats on almost 200 posts! I know what you mean about not believing it, if blogger isn’t lying to me I’m going to surpass 1000 this year.

Knowing how to dress your body to look your best is so important, even if you need to lose weight, you can always dress so that the focus is on the parts of you you love.

Anna…great job getting so far with your blog!!! Forever 21 you say? I JUST found out what that store was this weekend while dress shopping with my 12 year old daughter. I believe I have found trend Nirvana!!! ;o) You look beautiful in all your posts, so extra weight or not you are making it all work for you.

    xo,
    Alyssa

    • Four Seasons One Wardrobe says:

Thank you for your kind words! Enjoy Forever 21, I only get to enjoy it when I am traveling abroad, so do some shopping for me too!

  9. The last word I’d use to describe you is obese … you present yourself with such considered style that it’s not what we notice about you, I promise. I’ve been working on similar issues all my life … and you are quite right about so much, particularly the need to keep moving. That’s my downfall, and while I’m content with my weight, I have to poke myself hard to get up and going … I love sedentary activities the best!
You are lovely, with a real and womanly shape and great taste. You’re an inspiration and I look forward to seeing what you get up to every Monday! Congratulations on your successes, and know that your blog makes a difference in the world.

    • Four Seasons One Wardrobe says:

Jan, it sounds like you describing me! Even when I was a child I was not to happy about being outdoor playing, I preferred being inside reading a book or something similar. The Swedish weather does not help to inspire either! Let us keep on inspiring each other! Thank you so much for all your lovely comments, you definitely made my day!

    • Alyssa W. says:

Damn Jan–that was spot on!! I wish I had written that!! ;o)

  10. marlaslife says:

Wow, I would never call you obese. Getting healthier and staying slim as we age I think is a good thing. Too many people now with health problems due to their weight. All I do is walk 2 miles a day and stay away from fast food restaurants and I have had a consistent weight for years. I wish you the best of luck!

    • Four Seasons One Wardrobe says:

Thank you Marla, of course I chose those angels that make me look the slimmest. I also try to avoid fast food, but I really need to increase my exercise level. You look very slim and fit in all your photos!
